Willow Dormitory
Background
The Willow Dormitory was developed during the COVID-19 pandemic as part of Singapore’s efforts to provide safe, functional, and supportive accommodation for foreign workers. AlfaTech Asia was engaged to design and deliver a modern living environment that prioritized health, comfort, and community well-being during isolation periods.
Project Highlights
The dormitory was designed around resident feedback and built to the highest standards of worker accommodation in Singapore. Key features included:
Four quadrangle blocks surrounding a landscaped central courtyard.
Prefabricated steel structures enabling efficient construction.
Accommodation for up to 500 residents with modern amenities.
Comprehensive facilities including a commissary, gymnasium, dedicated laundry, recreation areas, and a rest courtyard.
A custom wall mural by Studio Moonchild symbolizing “Maidens of Serenity,” providing a sense of comfort and belonging.
Use of bright, contrasting colors to create a vibrant and uplifting environment.
